Leonce ve Lena

‘Leonce & Lena’, staged by the Kumpanya Ensemble, is a contemporary and absurd interpretation of the classic work by the German writer Georg Büchner.

A prince, a marriage he does not want, a fate he tries to escape, and a grand scheme in which everyone plays a part...

Leonce & Lena brings to the stage, through humour and an absurd narrative, the relationship between the individual and the patterns, expectations and ‘norms’ dictated by society. Whilst the characters strive to break free, they unwittingly become part of the very system they are trying to escape.

This play was created as a production by the Kumpanya Performing Arts Acting Workshop and is performed by the Kumpanya Ensemble. Shaped by the collective efforts of actors from diverse backgrounds, the play reflects the creative power and energy of community theatre.

‘Leonce & Lena’ reflects on order, identity, freedom and choices, but chooses to do so not through a serious tone, but through laughter and the absurd.

We look forward to welcoming you too, so that together we can laugh, reflect and take a step back to look at ourselves from a distance within this system.
