But what if nobody laughs at your jokes? That’s exactly where ‘Semi-Open Mic’ comes in!
Kumpanya Performing Arts’ brand-new format, ‘Semi-Open Mic’, offers comedians taking to the stage the chance to test their jokes in advance, gather feedback and go on stage better prepared. It also promises the audience a ‘Open Mic’ night packed with laughter and much more enjoyable.
How Does It Work?
There are two different types of ticket:
Audience Ticket: Come along, watch, have a laugh, and show your support.
Comedian’s Ticket: Take part in the feedback workshop held at Kumpanya Performing Arts – De Pijp Studio one week before the show. Try out your jokes, get feedback, polish them up and go on stage with greater confidence.
Why ‘Semi-Open’?
Because a comedian’s first stage experience sets the course for their career: if it goes well, their enthusiasm grows; if it goes badly, their enthusiasm wanes.
Because the audience for Turkish stand-up in the Netherlands is still in its infancy; a ‘night that isn’t funny’ could hinder the growth of this audience.
With this system, we create a more laughter-filled and more rewarding experience for both the performers and the audience.
